1)    Access MSC Gateway through WebAccess(PSU) authorization

2)    MSC Gateway homepage

After correct authorization, user can access the personalized Gateway homepage, where user can find the status of Jobs submitted, computing resource usage report, computer cluster status, disk usage.

The content of the homepage can be personalized through [Preference] manual, where RSS feeds and Links can be added to the homepage.

3)    Directory and File Management

The [Directory Explorer] manual contains access to major functions of the job and file management tools. The basic functions include Directory Listing, File and Directory manipulation and File Transfer.

Text file can be edited in a new window with [Select] in the [Directory Listing] and [Edit] under [File and Directory Actions].

For certain file types, file can be opened in a new window when clicked directly. For certain structural files, the Gateway can open the file for editing and display the structure through JMol (an open-source Java viewer for chemical structures in 3D). Currently, POSCAR file for VASP format is supported.

The display of the [Directory Explorer] can be changed through the [Preference] manual.

4)    Job Submitting and Management

The [PBS Job Submission] sub-manual allows users to submit jobs through PBS queuing system using the web-interface. User are able to specify Job Name, computer system and queue type, number of Nodes, time of execution, etc. through the web-interface.

5)    Resource Usage and Accounting

The [Cluster Accounting] will provide the statistic information about the usage of the Clusters.
