To apply for an NNIN/C account, please do the following two things.
(1) (i) Go to http://www.cns.fas.harvard.edu/ and under User Info click “How do I become a NNIN/CNS user ?”
(ii) Fill out the requisite forms in hard copy.
(A) For Harvard Users that includes two forms: Application form and Registration form. Also, the application form requests that you attach your proposal. This is a one page description of your nanoscience project. The instructions for completing this material is in the relevant CNS web page.
(B) Non-Harvard users will also need to fill out a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Currently there is no cost to usage of NNIN/C facilities, but this MOU document still requires signatures of appropriate people in your institution. Non-Harvard users must also fill out the registration and application forms discussed in (A) above.
Please note: all of these forms must be filled out in hardcopy and mailed or delivered to James Reynolds, Center for Nanoscale Systems, Harvard University, LISE Building, 3rd floor, Cambridge, MA 02138
(2) Go to http://apply.deas.harvard.edu/ and apply for a DEAS account. This is an online form and is only about one page. Please put, as sponsor, Stopa/NNIN and the e-mail address of Michael Stopa: stopa@deas.harvard.edu. There is a section in the form marked “Systems” which, for most people, can be ignored.
After you have filled these out, specifically the second, I must send an independent e-mail to DEAS to allow you access to NNIN/C resources. Therefore, when you have completed number (1) and number (2) above, please send me an e-mail indicating that you have done so and I will send an e-mail to DEAS as required. The whole process rarely takes more than three days and is usually complete within one, once the forms are in.
