State College, Pennsylvania

Organized by the Materials Simulation Center

A Facility of the Materials Research Institute

DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

The activity will cover four days. Three days will be dedicated to the method and features of the package, with lectures during the morning and hands-on labs during the afternoons. The fourth day is reserved to brief presentations by more advanced users and a poster session. As is already a tradition in the WIEN workshops, a round table with the authors and participants will be held at the end to exchange ideas, and provide feedback for the better development of the package.

All the activities take place in Room 316 - Hammond Building, except those specifically indicated in the program. Lunch will be provided and is included in the registration.

In the program there are four different types of activities: Presentations, Exercises, Labs, and Socializations.

  • Presentations: Invited talks and demonstrations, the participants can use the notebooks provided in the room to take notes of the presentations or even follow the talk online.

  • Exercises: Tutorial-style presentations on the use of the WIEN2k package. The example will be done and shown in a big screen, while the participants can try the example on the notebooks provided in the room.

  • Labs: During the labs, an activity will be suggested for the participants to try the code on their own with support form the tutors. However, the participant may choose to work on their own projects and ask the tutors about these calculations.

  • Socializations: Lunch, coffee, and a Conference Dinner.
